rustic christmas card display

One of my favorite things I've enjoyed as a new married couple has been receiving Christmas cards from friends and family the last few years. I remember my first Christmas with my husband, I received a few cards from my parent's friends. I thought that was so neat. My very own card, I thought.

I wasn't quite sure what to do with all the Christmas cards coming in. We were still in the old house building our new and I don't think we even had a Christmas tree up. I ended up tossing them all in a basket.

Last year, was our first Christmas in our new house. Once again, cards were coming in and I didn't know what to do with them all. I was going to string them across the kitchen somehow then I thought, eh, that would be too much clutter. I randomly stuck one in this old shutter I had in my kitchen before my kitchen shelf makeover that I wrote about this summer.

I liked the looks of the cards stuck in the shutter. I did it again as more cards came in. I decided to do it again this year, even though my shutter has been moved to the corner in the dining room.

There is a lot of work that goes behind preparing Christmas cards. They are definitely an optional thing but no matter if you send them or not, you're still going to receive them! Might as well find a fun way to display them.

I didn't plan ahead when I started my Christmas cards this year. I ran out when I needed about 30 more. I thought maybe I was a little crazy for sending so many cards out but then I started googling the average amount people send out and I was way, way under what all the other crazies were sending.

I know some people just send them to relatives that live far away. Some people send them to literally everybody. Some people send them only to people who send them cards. How do you decide who to send cards to? I am curious what everyone else does! I try to send them to as many family as possible but with my husband's grandpa having so many siblings, I tend to forget somebody! I also don't send them to our parents or siblings around here just because I usually hand deliver those when we get together for Christmas. I know, it's not as exciting as getting them in the mail. Sorry guys.

\How do you guys display your Christmas cards? How many cards do you send out! I want to know!
