making writing a priority

Good morning! I am excited to announce a new feature here at Old Blue Silo. Recently, I have been checking out a lot of blogs and studying some of them and what some of these bloggers are all about. I've checked out various themed blogs and I am finding some of the bigger, more successful blogs are somewhat becoming on the commercialized side. I know all about how they clean, how they organize their underwear and what they had for dinner Monday night but where are the stories? Where is life?

I guess one thing I don't want to lose touch with as a blogger is writing. After all, when I originally started blogging, I wrote! I took low quality pictures with my iphone, uploaded them as was and wrote about whatever my heart desired. I didn't post a lot, but I did what I could. I was having fun. I'm still having fun, but now it's a lot more work and planning now that I've made it a bigger priority. It takes a lot of time to come compose a post from start to finish when your introducing a recipe or a new DIY project. I love sharing that stuff with you and it really has become a passion, motivating me to do more projects and share more recipes; but I also want you to get to know me as a person and not just some girl behind a computer screen with a really cool kitchen.

I've composed a few posts in the past that I deleted. I had them posted for a while, but my husband hated them. He said they were not "me"  and he didn't care how I cleaned my bathroom or the fact that I hated boob lights. He wanted to hear more antics and what I was up to on a daily basis. Some people can make a living by just writing but I think if I ever want to become a full time blogger, I need to incorporate more than just silly antics.

But no worries, the antics, thoughts, stories and debates with myself won't go away. I am still going to make time for writing. In order to that, I've set a permanent schedule to sit down and just write. To write whatever is on my mind or in my heart. Like I did when I first started out.

I love drinking coffee on Saturday mornings and kind of recouping from the week, slowly savoring that last sip. Sometimes I catch up on Pinterest, other blogs, Facebook, etc. Sometimes I just sit out on my porch and just think. I know there are a lot of you out there that like to rewind from the week and start your Saturday morning off with coffee (unless you're my husband.. he's out of bed, showered and out the door without even any breakfast). I think it would be a perfect time for us to take a coffee break together!

So, if you enjoy my writing, please join me every Saturday morning for ramblings, thoughts, debates and whatever else comes to mind. This makes me happy and I am excited to try out this new challenge.

On that note, I am out of coffee! Stay tuned for some more ramblings next Saturday. I have lots in store for you this week! I am really getting excited for fall. Although, I did enjoy my drive last night on my way home from dinner with the sunroof open, windows down and Mr. Dierks Bentley blaring on the radio. When I got home, I left the radio blaring and picked some weeds around my landscaping. I was enjoying myself and the beautiful weather! What are you looking forward to this fall? What will you miss about summer time?
