you can't make christmas perfect

I haven't been a very good 'blogger' this holiday season.

Or maybe I have been. By keeping it real.

Christmas is the perfect chance to automatically have great blog material. But it's December 11th already and I have one little lousy post about a Christmas ornament idea.

I had plans of posting baking all month long in my kitchen, creative gift wrap ideas, hand made Christmas cards, a house tour, farmer gift giving guide, a beautiful tablescape, unique porch decor and visions of sugar plums in my head.

In fact, I had plans of posting about my Christmas card display. I took all the pictures, edited the photos and now...... I am writing this post instead.



But then I got busy with free lance jobs. And some volunteer work.  And my husband has been on vacation the last week so I feel like I should be spending time with him. Oh, and just life. Life in general. Not to mention, it's been cold. The last thing I want to do is create a beautiful front porch display just because I feel like I have to.

I like to decorate for Christmas. Taking out each little Snow Village house is something I couldn't do without. I love peppermint stick icecream. I enjoy shopping for that perfect gift. I look forward to filling out my Christmas cards. I hope to have time for some sugar cookie baking and decorating. The rest, however. It's all just extra. Whether your cards are homemade, you have the most beautiful tablescape in the county or the perfect light display outside, Christmas still comes. And it still has the same meaning. You still get together with family and friends.

The problem with blogs, magazines, movies, Pinterest and social media is that we all get caught up and overwhelmed on what it takes to have a "Perfect Christmas"... All of that extra stuff shouldn't matter unless it matters to you. And if it matters, than you enjoy doing it. If you enjoy doing something, it shouldn't make you feel overwhelmed.

So whether you are a blogger or not, don't fill your holiday season with unnecessary details that don't really matter to you in the first place. We are all very busy people and time is so valuable. As long as you get that tree up, bake a few cookies and buy a couple of gifts, you're just as far ahead of the game as the rest of us.

The holiday season always takes what seems like forever to get here, but then it's gone in the blink of an eye.

Enjoy it. Before it's over.

And remember, you can't make Christmas perfect. It already is.
