fall indulgence

This morning I woke up early and decided to go downstairs while my husband (and the cats) were still sleeping. I lit one of my favorite fall candles and brewed my first cup of pumpkin spice coffee of the season.

I love to indulge and take in each season for what it's worth. I look forward to some of my favorite fall indulgences all year long, counting down the days to when I can buy my first bag of pumpkin spice coffee or pull out my soft flannel shirts from storage. These indulgences are far more coveted than Cadbury Eggs in the spring or watermelon on the 4th of July. Those are great, but I could live without.

But my fall indulgences, there's no way I could live without.

1. Pumpkin Spice Coffee
There are no words. Really, no words. Truly the best. No need for a lot of creamer and sugar. Give it to me black and it's still amazing.

2. Vests
Nothing better than a vest paired with a hooded sweatshirt or flannel on a sunny, brisk day. I enjoy the arm freedom with the extra warmth. Personally, I am more of a Carhartt fan. They make a good vest. Thin but warm. They're very tough. Perfect for yard work.

3. Fall Candles
Really the best scents ever. Really. Really really. My favorite is Pumpkin Crunch Cake by Goosbeary Candle Shoppe but I indulge in all fall scents. I love the aroma of fall spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

4. Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Again, no words. I could pour this in my coffee all year round. This year I practically did because I bought so much in powder form last fall. I just finished the last of it a few months ago. I haven't seen it in stores yet. Pair it with Pumpkin Spice Coffee and we could put Starbucks out of business.

5. Flannel Shirts
Light. Cozy. Highly layerable (spell check is yelling at me but I am making this a word) and definitely a staple in my closet. Perfect for that transition into cooler weather. I like to wear them over a t-shirt so if I get a little toasty, I can peel it off easily.

6. Pumpkin Pie Spice
Ah yes, fall's most coveted baking staple. Dump it in pie, cookies, waffles, pancakes, coffee. Whatever. Just a dash and you're food is ready for fall. I don't advice putting it on a turkey sandwich, though. Yuck.

7. Mums
I love staring at mums. Especially when all the other flowers are dying off and the leaves are falling. Nothing more exciting then buying your first pot of fall mums. Just one pot can brighten up anyone's porch for fall.

8. Bath and Body Works: Leaves
Have you smelled this? I have to have it every fall. Room spray, candles, Wallflowers, etc. The works. Bath and Body Works describes it as "A rich blend of golden nectar, red apple and spiced berries.." I think it smells more like a heavenly cider. Honestly though, it smells nothing like leaves. In fact, I don't know if I would like it if it did smell like leaves. Have you ever smelled a dead leaf?

And those are my indulgences I look forward to every fall.

What about you? Are you a sucker for Dairy Queen's Pumpkin Pie Blizzard? Perhaps you're a fan of pumpkin spice coffee too?
